Hengyi Industries Inspires Future Talent Through Educational Outreach Programme

22 June 2026 – Hengyi Industries Sdn Bhd (Hengyi Industries) held its Educational Outreach Programme (EOP) at Chung Hwa Middle School on 18 June 2026 and Sekolah Tinggi Perempuan Raja Isteri on 22 June 2026, engaging around 290 Year 10 and Year 11 students and 121 Year 9, Year 10 and Year 11 students respectively. The programme was organised to provide students with greater exposure to Brunei Darussalam’s downstream energy industry while highlighting the educational and career opportunities available through Hengyi Industries.

During the programme, students were introduced to Hengyi Group and Hengyi Industries through an in-depth presentation covering the company’s development and operations in Brunei Darussalam. The session highlighted the transformation of Pulau Muara Besar into a world-class petrochemical complex, as well as the refinery’s operations and the range of products manufactured by Hengyi Industries. Students also gained insights into the company’s sustainability efforts, including Project SINAR, Brunei Darussalam’s largest solar initiative to date, and other environmental protection initiatives undertaken by the company.

The outreach programme also featured a presentation on Hengyi Industries’ Joint Scholarship Programme in partnership with Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD). Students learned about the Chemical and Process Engineering course offered by the programme, which includes a fully funded overseas study opportunity at Zhejiang University in China. The session also highlighted how graduates who successfully complete the programme are offered employment opportunities with Hengyi Industries.

The programme concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, where students had the opportunity to engage directly with Hengyi Industries representatives and gain insights into future academic and career pathways.

The Educational Outreach Programme forms part of Hengyi Industries’ Future-Ready corporate social responsibility initiative, which focuses on developing local talent and equipping future generations with the knowledge and skills needed to contribute to Brunei Darussalam’s growing downstream industry, in line with the company’s vision to provide “Excellence in Developing Petrochemicals through Pursuing Innovation and Business Sustainability.”
