Hengyi Industries presents certificate of graduation to scholars under the UBD – ZJU Joint Scholarship Programme

Institute for Leadership, Innovation and Advancement, Universiti Brunei Darussalam, 3 August 2022 – Hengyi Industries Sdn Bhd (Hengyi Industries) held a graduation ceremony for thirty-seven (37) Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) scholars under the Bachelor of Chemical and Process Engineering Programme for successfully completing their studies with Zhejiang University (ZJU).

Present as the guest of honour was Yang Mulia Dr Hazri bin Haji Kifle, Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Brunei Darussalam. The event began with welcoming remarks by Dr Juliana Haji Zaini, Dean of Faculty of Integrated Technologies, University Brunei Darussalam; and Professor Youqing Shen, Dean of Chemical and Biological Engineering, Zhejiang University.

Following the opening remarks, Siti Sarah binti Mohammad Hussin and Abigail Lee Xin, the student representative from the 7th and 8th batch of scholars respectively, delivered their speech where they expressed their gratitude to Hengyi Industries for providing the scholars with the scholarship and to their lecturers for their commitment in providing the scholars with invaluable guidance and education.

The event continued with the presentation of ZJU certificate of graduation to the 37 UBD scholars. A group photo session then concluded the graduation ceremony.

All 37 scholars are enrolled under the Joint Scholarship Programme, which was established by Hengyi Industries in collaboration with UBD and ZJU in March 2014 with the objective to help cultivate more skilled local talents by providing them a platform where they can equip themselves with technical knowledge and training through the fully-funded four-year degree course.

The scholars have completed their first one and a half years of study at UBD, as well as one and a half years of online learning with ZJU. Upon successful completion of their studies, they will be offered employment opportunities with Hengyi Industries.

As of August 2022, the UBD – ZJU Scholarship have been awarded to 138 students, while 80 students have completed their studies with UBD and ZJU and are employed by Hengyi Industries.
