Hengyi Holds Reforestation Project

Berakas Forest Reserve, Friday, 1 May 2019 Hengyi Industries Sdn Bhd conducted a Reforestation Project at Biodiversity Park, Berakas Forest Reserve.

The Reforestation Project which plays a huge part in Hengyi Industries’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) began with a welcoming speech by Mr Chen Lian Cai, Chief Executive Officer of Hengyi Industries and subsequently followed by the tree planting activity.

In addition, also among those present were officials and representatives from the Ministry of Development; Ministry of Energy, Manpower and Industry; Ministry of Finance and Economy; Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism; Ministry of Home Affairs; Green Brunei and Rotary Club Brunei.

A total of 500 tree saplings were successfully planted together with the participation of Hengyi Industries management personnel, government officials from various ministries as well as volunteers from non-profit organisations.

The reforestation project, which aims to give back to nature and society, is one of Hengyi Industries’ best practices to protect the environment with their uncompromising pledge of a total of 200 hectares, and as well as a contribution to Brunei Darussalam’s commitments through the Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation Programme (REDD+) under the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the Paris Agreement and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
