Hengyi Industries Awards 1st Batch of IBTE Scholarship

The Empire Hotel & Country Club, 26th February 2019. A scholarship agreement signing ceremony was recently held at The Empire Hotel & Country Club by Hengyi Industries Sdn Bhd to award scholarships to thirty (30) Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) students.

Permanent Secretary (Manpower) at the Ministry of Energy, Manpower and Industry (MEMI) cum guest of honour Haji Zolkiflee Bin Haji Abdul Karim witnessed the event, and Mr. Chen Lian Cai, Chief Executive Officer of Hengyi Industries Sdn Bhd delivered the welcoming remarks.

This is the first batch of Hengyi Scholarship in a joint collaboration between Hengyi Industries and the Centre for Capacity Building (PPK) together with Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) and Lanzhou Petrochemical Polytechnic (LPP).

The scholarship students have accomplished nine months in Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) and will further undergo one year of institutional-based training in Lanzhou Petrochemical Polytechnic (LPP) in China which will commence on March 2019. The scholars will then complete the final fifteen months of their course through an on-the-job-training with Hengyi Industries at Pulau Muara Besar (PMB). Upon completion of the programme, the 30 scholars will be offered an employment opportunity at Hengyi Industries.

The next consecutive scholarship batches will go through a three-year programme that comprises of twelve months of institutional-based training at IBTE Jefri Bolkiah Campus, twelve months of institutional-based training at Lanzhou Petrochemical Polytechnic in China; and twelve months of on-the-job training at Hengyi Petrochemical Plant at PMB.
