Hengyi Industries Hosts Chinese New Year Gathering

Tarindak D’Polo Royal Brunei Polo and Riding Club 6th February 2019. Hengyi Industries Sdn Bhd (Hengyi Industries) held a Chinese New Year Gathering on 6th of February 2019 at Tarindak D’Polo Royal Brunei Polo and Riding Club, Jerudong.

The event began with the recital of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat delivered by Awangku Khairul Alimin, followed by a welcoming speech by Mr. Qiu Jianlin, Chairman of Zhejiang Hengyi Group Co. Ltd and Hengyi Industries Sdn Bhd.

In the Chairman’s speech, Mr. Qiu Jianlin highlighted the year 2019 to be significant for Hengyi Industries where the company aims to begin the operation stage of the PMB Petrochemical complex in the 3rd quarter of 2019. He then expressed confidence in Hengyi Industries’ ability to contribute to Brunei’s economic development and social prosperity in line with Brunei’s Wawasan 2035.

Mr. Qiu Jianlin added that “Hengyi will endeavour to comply with the Local Business Development directives,” especially during the operation stage where the company aims to create more value and opportunities for local companies. In relation to this, Hengyi Industries is fully committed to support His Majesty The Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam aspiration to achieve 90% Bruneianisation in the oil and gas industry as laid down in the Bruneianisation Directive. Hengyi Industries is investing heavily in human capacity development and training that allows them to achieve 50% localization for the start of its production. As Bruneians develop new skills and experiences, Hengyi Industries plans to increase localization efforts by at least 5% every year with an estimated total of 10,000 direct and indirect job opportunities created at PMB in Phase 2.

The Chairman closed his speech by expressing gratitude to all the stakeholders whom assisted Hengyi Industries through their developmental stage.

During the event, guests were entertained with performances such as The Lion Dance, 24 Seasons Drum, Traditional Chinese Fan dance and Traditional Malay dance. A corporate video showing Hengyi Industries’ introduction and the progress made throughout the years was also presented.

The event was a successful celebration for the prosperous year ahead and of moving forward into a smooth sailing journey for Hengyi Industries’ operation stage in 2019.
