Hengyi Industries Recognises Outstanding Students Through Academic Excellence Award 2026

20 August 2026, Hengyi Industries Main Office Building, Pulau Muara Besar – Hengyi Industries Sdn Bhd (Hengyi Industries) held its second Hengyi Industries Academic Excellence Award, recognising the outstanding academic achievements of 15 students from Pengiran Isteri Hajjah Mariam Secondary School (SMPIHM), Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Secondary School (SMPDSM), Sultan Sharif Ali Secondary School, Chung Hua Middle School Kuala Belait, and Meragang Sixth Form Centre (PTEM). The initiative aims to encourage students to pursue academic excellence and inspire them to explore future career opportunities within the petrochemical industry.

The award ceremony commenced with a Do’a Selamat and safety briefing, followed by opening remarks by Ms. Zhou Fu Zhen, Head of the Department of Human Resources. In her remarks, Ms. Zhou congratulated the award recipients on their achievements, highlighted that the 2026 Academic Excellence Award marks the second consecutive year Hengyi Industries has organised the initiative, and emphasised the importance of education in nurturing the next generation of talent who will contribute to Brunei Darussalam’s future development.

Following the opening remarks, guests viewed a video presentation which highlighted Hengyi Industries’ operations and contributions to Brunei Darussalam’s socio-economic development, as well as Hengyi Industries’ Joint Scholarship & Collaboration Programme, which highlighted the educational pathways and opportunities available for students interested in pursuing careers within the petrochemical industry.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of the Hengyi Industries Academic Excellence Award to 15 students who achieved outstanding results in their GCE ‘O’ Level and GCE ‘A’ Level examinations. Ms. Zhou presented the awards to the GCE ‘O’ Level recipients, while Mr. Alan Goh, Human Resources Director of Hengyi Industries, presented the awards to the GCE ‘A’ Level recipients. Each recipient received a Certificate of Excellence and BND 300 in recognition of their achievements.

The event then concluded with a group photograph session and a guided site tour of Hengyi Industries, providing valuable insights into the operations of a modern petrochemical complex and a deeper understanding of the diverse career pathways available within the industry.

Established in May 2025, the Hengyi Industries Academic Excellence Award is an initiative under Hengyi Future-Ready, the company’s key Corporate Social Responsibility pillar dedicated to supporting education, talent development, and future workforce readiness in Brunei Darussalam.

The award also reflects Hengyi Industries’ vision of “Excellence in Developing Petrochemicals through Pursuing Innovation and Business Sustainability.” Through the development of the next generation of local talent, Hengyi Industries seeks to build a pipeline of skilled professionals who can contribute new innovations and technical expertise to further strengthen Brunei Darussalam’s petrochemical industry.
